All three of our beautiful churches are available for wedding services that can be majestic and formal, through also intimate, cosy and timeless. We also have side chapels and choir areas that make for beautiful spaces in which to give your vows to each other.
A christian wedding doesn't have to feel stuffy and 'churchy' either, we have good quality sound systems at two of our churches which can easily play MP3's and CD's, alongside what an organist or pianist can offer.
If you always dreamed of walking down the aisle to Wagner (played by one of our splendid organists), having our thriving SATB choir sing as you sign your registers and then greeting the sunshine at the end of the service to the sounds of ringing bells then come and talk to us! You will need to have some sort of connection to the parish, but things are a little more flexible nowadays and we will do our best to accommodate you as best we can.
(also known as christenings for children)
We offer baptism for all, as a sign of inclusion in the worldwide, universal family of God. For families closely connected to the worshipping life of the church, baptism can take place during Sunday morning worship, including Messy church.
Generally those who live in the parish access our Sunday lunchtime baptism services. These services have room for 2-3 families at a time, usually on the 2nd Sunday of the month.
Our large ministry team of clergy and ministers are available to take funerals in our churches, the crematorium or at the woodland burial grounds.
Whilst we are of course Christian, we regularly take services that are not overtly christian in expression, since within the congregation of mourners there are people of many as well as no faith.
We often find that people like a mix of traditional funeral hymns with music that has shaped them over the course of their lives, so we often find that Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Eva Cassidy and Doris Day feature in one way or another.
The funeral directors can put you in touch with freelance funeral officiants who do an efficient job, but we are able to offer pastoral support for family and loved ones that extends far beyond the committal, we have many daytime activities where those who are grieving will find friendship and someone else who knows a little of what they may be feeling.
If you are interested in holding any of these services at one of our churches, please come to our parish office between 9am and 12noon on weekdays, otherwise phone or email with a message.
(The funeral directors also have our mobile phone numbers so if you are talking with them, they can call us even on a day off.)
